Founded by Brooklyn-based mama Mika Oakes, Moloco offers design-forward, functional swimwear for breastfeeding moms. When the startup needed a website, they turned to UME. We started by assessing the business model and mapping quantifiable goals. Then we designed a site that balances optimized e-commerce with empowering content for moms. Working from MOLOCO’s existing packaging, we took existing elements and, using collaborative workshops, quickly developed an expanded brand system. The result? A site that supported Mika as she raised MOLOCO’s profile and won over new distribution partners, like J. Crew and Madewell, and that continues to serve as a durable platform that’s growing with the brand and community as they attract more and more moms looking for hot suits and a supportive sisterhood.
Right from the very start, UME was an essential sounding board for my business. I don’t think MOLOCO would be where it is now without their skill and support at the beginning. The team held me accountable, offered solid advice and unwavering honesty, and gave me the kick in the ass I needed to build the e-commerce platform of my dreams. Without a doubt, the site has helped me make the most of earned media coverage and solidify important distribution deals.
