Free Jarvis is a criminal justice nonprofit committed to exonerating the wrongfully convicted death row inmate, Jarvis Jay Masters. The project tapped UME to help build a brand and website to help the movement grow and gain support. Given the organization’s size and resources, UME streamlined our process and prioritized delivering simple communications tools that Free Jarvis could easily maintain. To ensure we captured Jarvis’ compelling and compassionate voice, we spoke with him over the phone for hours and poured over his writing. The resulting brand and website convey his humility, compassion and intelligence while sharing essential information about the man, about the case and about how visitors can get involved and take action.
UME helped us to focus not only on our message, but also the kind of energy that we wanted to put out into the world. They brought precision and attention to detail, while never losing sight of the larger, complex context in which our project operates. The site UME delivered is simple and accessible, reaching the widest possible audience — while remaining true to the nuances of criminal justice. We're so grateful!
